Bungawitta was established in 1986 to meet the needs of the families who lived and/or worked in the local community.
Our proximity to the University, Maritime College and TAFE means that our families come from all over the greater Launceston area.
The building created quite a stir in 1986 because of its unique child-focused design and its architect - Robert Morris-Nunn - was the recipient of a major architectural award at the time of the buildings opening.
