Conditions of approval

The maximum number of family day care educators that may be engaged by or registered by the approved provider for this service is 30. The approved provider and the educational leader are required to commence the training offered by Gowrie Victoria, Coaching: The Next Step for Educational Leaders and Managers within 3 months of being notified of the outcome of the internal review and provide evidence to the Department within 7 days of completing the training. The approved provider is required to submit to the Regulatory Authority revised policies and procedures for dealing with medical conditions, providing a child safe environment, participation of volunteers and students, the acceptance and refusal of authorisations, monitoring, support and supervision of family day care educators including those in remote locations, assessment of family day care educators, family day care educator assistances, and persons residing at the family day care residence, the engagement or registration of family day care assistants, and the record of staff prior to commencement of the education and care service. The approved provider must employ at least 1 full time family day care co-ordinator as prescribed in section 5 of the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 for every 15 family day care residences or venues providing education and care for children. The approved provider must identify family day care educators operating in a family day care residence or approved family day care venue in Victoria at particular risk of bushfire and ensure that these family day care educators do not operate on a declared Code Red day in their Bureau of Meteorology district. Where a family day care residence or approved family day care venue is identified as being at particular risk of bushfire, policies and procedures relating to emergency and evacuation must incorporate policies and procedures for monitoring bushfire risks and informing families of service closures resulting from bushfire risks. The approved provider must notify the Department at least 14 days before they commence to operate in another state or territory.
