Conditions of approval

The approved provider must identify family day care educators operating in a family day care residence or approved family day care venue in Victoria at particular risk of bushfire and ensure that these family day care educators do not operate on a declared Code Red day in their Bureau of Meteorology district. Where a family day care residence or approved family day care venue is identified as being at particular risk of bushfire, policies and procedures relating to emergency and evacuation must incorporate policies and procedures for monitoring bushfire risks and informing families of service closures resulting from bushfire risks. The approved provider must notify the Department at least 14 days before they commence to operate in another state or territory. The maximum number of family day care educators that may be engaged by or registered with the Service is 10. The approved provider must employ at least 1 full time family day care co-ordinator as prescribed under section 5 of the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 for every 10 family day care residences or venues where education and care is provided for children. The approved provider must ensure that all family day care educators, engaged by or registered with the Service, residences or venues are located in the local government municipality of Hume (Hume City Council). The approved provider must complete assessments (including a risk assessment) of each residence to be conducted before education and care is provided in each residence or venue and thereafter twice per year (instead of once as required under Regulation 116). The approved provider must no less than 7 days prior to providing education and care to any children: - provide the Department with an independently assessed, complete and accurate register of family day care educators, co-ordinators and educator assistants;- provide the Department with copies of assessments of family day care residences and approved family day care venues, that have been conducted before education and care commences; - provide the Department with a revised "Educator Induction Program" that focuses on the requirements of the National Quality Framework and includes information about planning and conducting risk assessments for excursions and designing and delivering an educational program based on an approved learning framework;- provide the Department with an updated Quality Improvement Plan.
