Kids seem to have a 100% running battery capacity at all times. So much it may be a little hard to make them adhere to their nap time schedule.

Or maybe you just get some downtime right before their drop off or have them being bored while waiting for their parents to pick them up.

These fun activities help get rid of boredom or excess energy while getting them to exercise their bodies.

Goodnight, friends!

Children usually become hyperactive right after lunch and as such are harder to encourage to take their nap time. By playing this greeting game called “Good night friends” where you can get them moving, smiling, laughing, and pretending to be asleep, you can easily get rid of their excess energy and have them nap for the afternoon.
Good night friends will have the teacher or assistant call on a couple of children. Once they hear their name, the children will have to lay on their sleeping cot and pretend they’re sleeping.
After you have called a few names, you can have everyone go to sleeping position by saying, “Good night everyone”.
You can restart the game by saying “Good morning, everyone” and the children will all rise up, ready to preen their ears to listen to whose name will be called next.
This game will have children practicing their listening and locomotive skills as they listen intently to the names being called out and test their reflexes going into a sleeping position as soon as their name is called.
Repeating them a couple of times will surely tire them out and before long, the children will really be ready for their afternoon nap.

Clean your space

Another fun interactive activity is to have children clean their area in a fun way. You can divide the room in half, putting a line, rope or any barrier to mark the center line. Leave soft toys, plushies, or even crumpled paper strewn on both sides. You can even ask the children to do this themselves.
Then when everything is prepared, divide the children into two sides and have them clean their side of the room by throwing the materials to the other side. Whichever side gets to clear their side is the winner. This will have them squealing, bending, running, and throwing as quickly as possible.
The beauty of this game is that it can go on for as long as the children keep on throwing stuff to the other side.

Red Light, Green Light

Similar to freeze dance except “red light” is the command to freeze and hold a silly pose. “Green light” is the command to go or start again while “yellow light” is to remind them to move slower like a sloth or snail, this activity gives children the freedom to run around and expend energy, use their locomotor skills doing so while also exercising their listening skills as you shout out the commands.
What’s great about this activity is there is almost no preparation involved, except maybe moving furniture out of the way and there are no props needed. Children have the run around of the whole space and can lose their energy in a fun way.
